{"id":75770,"date":"2026-01-01T20:16:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T20:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/75770\/"},"modified":"2026-01-01T20:16:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T20:16:09","slug":"del-mar-city-council-to-vote-on-second-reading-of-single-use-plastics-noncompostables-ban-san-diego-union-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/75770\/","title":{"rendered":"Del Mar City Council to vote on second reading of single-use plastics, noncompostables ban \u2013 San Diego Union-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Del Mar City Council is scheduled to vote Jan. 6 on a second reading of an ordinance that further bans single-use plastics and noncompostable food service items within the city.<\/p>\n<p>Council members approved the first reading unanimously on Dec. 15.<\/p>\n<p>Pending the vote on the second reading, which is listed on the council agenda\u2019s consent calendar, the ordinance will take effect on Feb. 6. Businesses will have a six-month grace period to comply, according to the city.<\/p>\n<p>The city already has regulations including restrictions on single-use plastic bags for carryout, plastic straws and stirrers, and balloons filled with helium or other lighter-than-air gasses.
