FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Authorities in Carbon County are investigating a fatal accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike involving a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
Around 4 a.m. today, police responded to a collision in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike at mile marker 76.2 in Franklin Township. The location is just north of Exit #74 for Mahoning Valley.<\/p>\n
The Carbon County Coroner\u2019s Office was requested to the scene a short time later. Initial reports indicated a male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.<\/p>\n
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities are not releasing their identity at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.<\/p>\n
