Police and ambulance personnel responded shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday to Long Lane and Pine Street in Upper Darby for a male with a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
The immediate description was a male unconscious with a gunshot wound to the lower back.<\/p>\n
According to police and ambulance radio traffic:<\/p>\n
Police asked for medics to step it up and started CPR. Streets were closed off in the area.<\/p>\n
The medic unit arrived and described taking a 20-year-old male in respiratory arrest to Penn Presbyterian.<\/p>\n
Police began looking for a late-teens male who was seen by witnesses running from the scene, plus officers were also looking for a gray car.<\/p>\n
Upper Darby police posted these details shortly after 5 p.m.:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are deeply saddened to report that a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot today at approximately 2:58 PM.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreliminary information indicates that the victim and another juvenile male were involved in an argument, during which the suspect shot the victim in the lower back. The victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are in contact with Upper Darby School District officials and are working closely with them to provide resources and support for the victim\u2019s family, students, and staff.<\/p>\n
