(WOLF) \u2014 The Lackawanna County Library System is making a big change aimed at expanding access for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning Wednesday, January 7th, all ten locations in the Lackawanna County Library System will officially go fine-free. That means no more overdue fines and any existing fines on library accounts will be forgiven.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really as simple as welcoming people back or they\u2019re coming back they\u2019re making good faith payment monthly,\u201d said Sandy Longo, executive director of Lackawanna County Library System. \u201cIt\u2019s all about giving them the opportunity to return to the library without financial concern. It\u2019s all about equitable access and having our information resources and services available to the community.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Library officials say they\u2019ve been considering the move for several years, studying the financial impact and noting they were already forgiving many fines.
