{"id":7667,"date":"2025-10-19T02:28:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T02:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/7667\/"},"modified":"2025-10-19T02:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T02:28:08","slug":"penguins-rally-for-fourth-straight-win-to-open-season-wilkes-barre-citizens-voice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/7667\/","title":{"rendered":"Penguins rally for fourth straight win to open season \u2013 Wilkes-Barre Citizens&#8217; Voice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After one period Saturday night, the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins found themselves in an unusual position thus far in the early season.<\/p>\n<p>They were down three goals.<\/p>\n<p>However, the ending was the same as it has been in the previous three games.<\/p>\n<p>The Penguins scored five goals in the third period and they won their fourth straight to open the campaign, 6-3, over the Bridgeport Islanders at Total Mortgage Arena in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton (4-0-0-) and Providence are the lone two undefeated team left in the AHL Atlantic Division. The Pens have eight points, two ahead of both Providence and Charlotte.<\/p>\n<p>Down, 3-0, entering the second period, Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton racked up six unanswered goals.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Graves\u2019 first score of the season in the second period trimmed the deficit to two entering the third.<\/p>\n<p>In the first 10 minutes of the third, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Sam Poulin, Ville Koivunen and Danton Heinen all scored to give the Pens a 5-3 lead. Atley Calvert\u2019s shorthanded goal with eight minutes left concluded the scoring.<\/p>\n<p>Calvert had a big weekend for the Penguins, scoring three times in the two road games.<\/p>\n<p>For the second straight night, Sergei Murashov picked up the win in net, stopping 29 of 32 shots.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., the Penguins return to Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza to face off with intrastate rival Lehigh Valley.
