The \u201cThree Kings Celebration,\u201d presented by PPL and sponsored by B. Braun Medical Inc. and Lagom Care, is at 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 4, ArtsQuest Campus at SteelStacks. Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
The 14th event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the best ways to end the holiday season is to join us at the \u2018Three Kings\u2019 festivities at ArtsQuest. Each year, this tradition is brought to life with the arrival of the Three Kings, Einstein the Camel, gifts for children, traditional Puerto Rican food and Spanish Parranda music,\u201d says Myrna Rivera, Chair of ArtsQuest\u2019s Latin Programming Committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, this celebration always brings back amazing memories of holiday family gatherings in our homes,\u201d Rivera says.<\/p>\n
\u201cEl Dia de los Reyes\u201d (\u201cThree Kings Day\u201d) is a religious and cultural tradition of many Latin American nations. During the \u201cThree Kings Celebration,\u201d there\u2019s a reading of the story of the Three Kings, followed by gift-giving.<\/p>\n
There will be arts and crafts, a visit by Einstein the Snow Camel, food for purchase provided by Infancy Church and music. Allentown\u2019s \u201cMarine Toy for Tots\u201d is contributing to the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s nothing more intimate to our culture than the celebration of the Three Kings Day. Scripturally and culturally, this traditional festivity is a reminder of the richness of Latin American folklore,\u201d says Miguel Perez-Soto, ArtsQuest Performing Arts Board Member and Sr. Demand Planner at B. Braun Medical.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreserving this day brings me back to my days growing up in Puerto Rico and the experience of knowing that under my bed the Magi\u2019s and their \u2018co-conspirators,\u2019 the Camels, left a special present that will enlighten my holidays,\u201d Perez-Soto says.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is also a time when you can capture the pulse of childhood innocence through the belief in this significant historical and cultural event,\u201d says Perez-Soto.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur community will have the opportunity to enjoy this tradition in an ambiance surrounded by presents, traditional food, live music and family. Kudos to ArtsQuest and the Latin Programming Committee for keeping it alive,\u201d says Perez-Soto.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Three Kings activity is a cultural and religious celebration commemorating when the Three Wise Men brought gifts to the baby Jesus,\u201d says Iris Cintron, ArtsQuest Latin Programming Committee Member.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany children in Latin American countries will receive their Christmas gifts on January 6 as per this tradition. We aim to keep this tradition alive in our young people,\u201d Cintron says.<\/p>\n
In the lead-up to Three Kings Day, \u201cSilent Night on the Latin Side\u201d by the Clave Legacy Quintet was presented in a free concert Dec. 20, Palette & Pour, ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.<\/p>\n
