BETHLEHEM, Pa. (WHTM) \u2014 Authorities are investigating an apparent murder suicide they say was discovered by a child returning home from a playdate Friday evening.<\/p>\n
According to Bethlehem Police, officers were called to the 200 block of 10th Avenue in the city around 10:15 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n
A child had just been dropped off at the home after a playdate and came back outside to report \u201ca serious issue had occurred inside the residence,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
Inside, two adults \u2014 a 39-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man \u2014 were found. According to the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was taken to St. Luke\u2019s University Hospital in nearby Fountain Hill, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Two other children were inside the home at the time, as was an older adult who \u201cappeared unaware of the incident\u201d and is not considered a suspect.<\/p>\n
The children are all in the care of family members, police said.<\/p>\n
Both Bethlehem Police and the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office referred to the incident as a murder-suicide.<\/p>\n
Both victims were identified, though the Coroner\u2019s Office said their names are being withheld until an autopsy on Monday \u201cto allow the families time to grieve privately.\u201d<\/p>\n
