A Duryea man broke into his brother\u2019s apartment with a baseball bat and attacked him with a kitchen knife during an assault in the borough on Sunday morning, police said.<\/p>\n
Jesse Seavey, 25, is jailed without bail on aggravated assault charges following the incident that took place in the 200 block of Main Street around 10:40 a.m.<\/p>\n
Police said Seavey used a baseball bat to smash out a side window to gain entry into his brother\u2019s apartment. Once inside, Seavey attacked his brother with a large kitchen knife, inflicting multiple injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
Seavey then stole his brother\u2019s truck and fled the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.<\/p>\n
As police were getting ready to leave the scene, Seavey was spotted driving by the area in the stolen truck, police said.<\/p>\n
Officers from Duryea, Hughestown and Avoca gave chase, pursuing Seavey as he violated numerous traffic laws and placed other drivers in danger, police said.<\/p>\n
The officers eventually captured Seavey along state Route 315. He was found wearing blood-stained clothing and still had the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, police said.<\/p>\n
Medics treated Seavey on scene and then brought him to an area hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n
Police then charged him with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, criminal trespassing, burglary, making terroristic threats, criminal mischief, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possessing an offensive weapon, reckless driving, careless driving, running a red light and illegally passing other traffic.<\/p>\n
Magisterial District Judge Michael G. Dotzel arraigned Seavey on the charges Sunday afternoon and denied bail, deeming him a danger to society.<\/p>\n
