Freshman, sophomore and junior\u00a0students with the highest grade-point averages of their class, each\u00a0representing\u00a0one of The University of Scranton\u2019s three colleges, recently received awards for academic excellence.<\/p>\n
Recipients of the Frank O\u2019Hara Awards, named in honor of the late administrator who served 53 years at The University of Scranton, were honored at a ceremony held Dec. 3 at the Weinberg Memorial Library.\u00a0Awards were based on grades from the 2024-25 academic year.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Kania School of Management<\/p>\n
Hailey\u00a0Poskonka,\u00a0of\u00a0Dover,\u00a0New Jersey, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her\u00a0freshman\u00a0year\u00a0in\u00a0the Kania School of\u00a0Management.\u00a0A\u00a0member of the Frank P. Corcione Business Honors Program, she is currently in her sophomore year at Scranton, where she is pursuing\u00a0a double major in accounting and business analytics.\u00a0A\u00a0dean\u2019s\u00a0list\u00a0student, she is a student-athlete on Scranton\u2019s\u00a0softball team. She is a member of several campus organizations, including\u00a0business\u00a0club, Society of Accounting Students, Omega Sigma Beta, Kania Women in Business, the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Kindness for Chemo.<\/p>\n
Jessieca\u00a0Aguasin,\u00a0of\u00a0Honesdale, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her sophomore year\u00a0in\u00a0the Kania School of Management. A member of both the Frank P. Corcione\u00a0Business Honors Program and the Robert L. McKeage Business Leadership\u00a0Program,\u00a0she is\u00a0a junior at\u00a0Scranton, where she is an\u00a0accounting major. She is a recipient\u00a0of the University\u2019s full-tuition Presidential Scholarship. She is a member of Kania Women in Business and the Commuter Students Association.<\/p>\n
Dean Finan,\u00a0of\u00a0Malvern, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for his junior year\u00a0in\u00a0the Kania School of Management. A member of the\u00a0Frank P. Corcione\u00a0Business Honors Program and\u00a0Robert L. McKeage\u00a0Business Leadership Honors Program, he is in his senior year at Scranton\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0pursuing a double major in\u00a0finance and\u00a0business analytics. He is a recipient of the University\u2019s full-tuition Presidential Scholarship. He is a member of the University\u2019s men\u2019s soccer team and its\u00a0leadership\u00a0council. He serves as the\u00a0sector\u00a0head for Consumer Staples and Industrials at PRISM, the\u00a0University\u2019s investment club,\u00a0and as\u00a0president of the Kania Student Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

College of Arts and Sciences<\/p>\n
Molly Grove,\u00a0of\u00a0Mountain Top, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her\u00a0freshman\u00a0year\u00a0in\u00a0the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a member of the University\u2019s Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Program and the undergraduate University Honors Program. She is in her sophomore year at Scranton\u00a0and\u00a0is pursuing a triple major in history, political\u00a0science\u00a0and philosophy. She is a\u00a0dean\u2019s\u00a0list student and a recipient of the\u00a0University\u2019s Dean\u2019s Scholarship and the 2025-26 Sabatino Scholarship for sophomores studying history. She also volunteers with animal shelters and is a contributor and editor for the University\u2019s Esprit literary magazine.<\/p>\n
Alexandra Beltre,\u00a0of\u00a0Bloomfield,\u00a0New Jersey, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her sophomore year\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0College of Arts and Sciences.\u00a0A\u00a0dean\u2019s\u00a0list student, she is in her sophomore year at Scranton\u00a0and\u00a0is pursuing an\u00a0environmental\u00a0science:\u00a0ecology major on the\u00a0pre-veterinary\u00a0track. She is the events\u00a0coordinator\u00a0for the\u00a0University\u2019s\u00a0gaming\u00a0club, a member of the\u00a0pre-vet\u00a0club\u00a0and a tutor for\u00a0the Office of Student Support and Success.<\/p>\n
Sheila Miller,\u00a0of\u00a0Milford,\u00a0New Jersey, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her junior year\u00a0in\u00a0the College of Arts and Sciences. A\u00a0dean\u2019s\u00a0list\u00a0student, she is in her senior year at Scranton, where she is pursuing a double major in journalism and electronic media. She is the\u00a0secretary of Rho Tau Elta, the Communication and Media Department\u2019s honor society;\u00a0the vice president of Mulberry Media;\u00a0and a staff writer for The Aquinas newspaper. She is also a member of Scranton\u2019s\u00a0HerCampus\u00a0chapter and a member of the Royal Harmony A Capella group.<\/p>\n

Leahy College of Health Sciences<\/p>\n
Nicole\u00a0Schulingkamp,\u00a0of\u00a0Harleysville, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her\u00a0freshman\u00a0year\u00a0in\u00a0the Leahy College of Health Sciences. She is in her sophomore year at Scranton,\u00a0where she is pursuing an\u00a0occupational\u00a0therapy major. She is\u00a0a member of\u00a0the University\u2019s women\u2019s soccer team\u00a0and a\u00a0member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Student Occupational Therapy Association and an anatomy tutor.<\/p>\n
Olivia Gallione,\u00a0of\u00a0Hewitt,\u00a0New Jersey, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her sophomore year\u00a0in\u00a0the Leahy College of Health Sciences. A recipient of the Dean\u2019s Scholarship and Ignatian Award, she is in her junior year at Scranton,\u00a0where she is pursuing an\u00a0occupational\u00a0therapy major. She is a member of the Student Occupational Therapy Association and both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association. She is also a teaching assistant\u00a0and a\u00a0tutor\u00a0and\u00a0volunteers\u00a0with the Center for Service and Social Justice.<\/p>\n
Claudia\u00a0Campisciano,\u00a0of\u00a0Broomall, received the O\u2019Hara\u00a0Award for academic achievement for her junior year\u00a0in\u00a0the Leahy College of Health Sciences. She is in her senior year at Scranton\u00a0and\u00a0is pursuing a major in kinesiology with a guaranteed seat in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.\u00a0She is a\u00a0peer\u00a0health\u00a0educator for the Center for Health Education and Wellness and is involved with\u00a0HerCampus.<\/p>\n
