A woman is accused of fatally stabbing her 23-year-old daughter inside a Delaware County home, Upper Darby police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 23.<\/p>\n

The stabbing happened around 6:30 a.m. inside a residence on the 200 block of South Bishop Avenue in the Secane section of Upper Darby Township, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s father had been working an overnight shift and returned home to find the scene before calling 911, 6abc Action News<\/a> reports. By the time officers arrived, the 23-year-old woman had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators said.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s mother was taken into custody at the home and transported to a hospital for evaluation, police said. She is expected to face charges, including homicide. A motive for the killing has not been released.<\/p>\n

Investigators also said the family dog was stabbed during the incident and was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.<\/p>\n

Authorities stressed the stabbing was an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the community. Detectives continue to investigate, and additional updates are expected as the case develops.<\/p>\n

Police said domestic violence resources will be made available to the community. Names of those involved have not been released.<\/p>\n
