{"id":79516,"date":"2026-01-06T19:45:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T19:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/79516\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T19:45:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T19:45:19","slug":"coroner-identifies-skeletal-remains-found-in-cumru-township-as-travelle-martin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/79516\/","title":{"rendered":"Coroner identifies skeletal remains found in Cumru Township as Travelle Martin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The human remains discovered late last month in the Flying Hills community of Cumru Township have been identified as Travelle Martin, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Berks County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Martin was the subject of a <a href=\"https:\/\/berksweekly.com\/news\/crime\/police-use-k-9-drone-in-search-for-domestic-assault-suspect-in-flying-hills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">January 2025 police search in Cumru Township<\/a> after he fled from officers during a reported domestic incident, and his family later said they considered him missing and conducted their own search efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The remains were located on <a href=\"https:\/\/berksweekly.com\/news\/crime\/human-remains-discovered-in-flying-hills-community-of-cumru-township\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025<\/a>, in an area off Lakewood Drive within the Flying Hills development. Officers from the Cumru Township Police Department, detectives with the Berks County District Attorney\u2019s Office, and deputy coroners from the Berks County Coroner\u2019s Office responded to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>According to Coroner Matthew J. Stitzel, the remains were examined by the coroner\u2019s office along with forensic odontologist Tammy Balatgek and forensic pathologist Dr. Neil Hoffman. Following the examination, the individual was identified as Travelle Martin, according to the Berks County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hoffman is scheduled to conduct an additional forensic autopsy on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.
