Most of the time when Dickson City firefighters are called to an emergency, they rush to the scene in an effort to protect flesh and blood.<\/p>\n
But, at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the department was called out to assist their brothers at the Throop Fire Department in rescuing a creature complete with claws and feathers.<\/p>\n
When fire personnel returned from the rescue, they took to Facebook, posting, \u201cToday\u2019s adventure involved something we don\u2019t train for in firefighting: a bird in a tree.\u201d<\/p>\n
The post goes on to explain that a cockatiel named Angel had taken up residence high above the ground, apparently beyond her level of aviation skills.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur fearless firefighters climbed to impressive heights, risking pride, neck muscles, and a fair amount of whistling, all in an attempt to rescue Angel from her perched penthouse,\u201d the post went on. \u201cJust as our savvy saviors were within reach \u2026 Angel chose freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe spread her wings, took flight, and left our heroes standing in the tree, whistling into the wind and questioning their life choices,\u201d the post concludes.<\/p>\n
Firefighters ask residents to keep their eye on the skies. Should they see Angel, they are encouraged to whistle in hopes that Angel might choose them as a better rescue option.<\/p>\n
The Dickson City Fire Department emphasized that no firefighters were harmed in the attempted rescue.<\/p>\n
