was sworn into office Monday<\/a> afternoon and finished out the night with a huge celebration. <\/p>\nThe crowd of family, friends, and supporters at the Children\u2019s Museum was so large that it was difficult to move through the room. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t do it unless you believed in them,\u201d O\u2019Connor said. \u201cAnd I think that would be my thing is, I believe in Pittsburgh, and I believe in Pittsburghers. And I think that\u2019s why we\u2019re all excited tonight.\u201d <\/p>\n
Those in attendance said they believe in O\u2019Connor just as strongly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to get behind him and support him because he\u2019s young, he\u2019s creative, he has the kind of energy, and he has a good heart, and that\u2019s what\u2019s most important,\u201d Jackie Dixon said.<\/p>\n
For many in the crowd who knew O\u2019Connor\u2019s late father and former Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O\u2019Connor, Monday was a long time coming. <\/p>\n
Supporters said they are excited about O\u2019Connor\u2019s policies and personality.<\/p>\n
\u201cJob opportunities. He\u2019ll bring business back into the city of Pittsburgh,\u201d Fran Barrett said. \u201cA sports guy. Golfer. It\u2019s gonna be fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n
O\u2019Connor said he plans to get to work immediately and begin delivering on the promises he made during his campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cTomorrow we\u2019re walking kids to school, we\u2019re doing an executive order on permitting,\u201d O\u2019Connor said. \u201cStuff that we talked about because we want to deliver on the promises that we\u2019re making.\u201d<\/p>\n
