What is this year’s theme?<\/p>\n
This year, the PA Farm Show’s theme is “Growing a Nation,” which commemorates Pennsylvania’s role in democracy. This theme will be celebrated in conjunction with the United Nations deeming 2026 as “the International Year of the Woman Farmer.”<\/p>\n
What’s new at the food court?<\/p>\n
The stand for the Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania will sell a mushroom breakfast burrito, as well as a Lion’s Mane mushroom coffee.<\/p>\n
What’s new, in general?<\/p>\n
\u2014 Chef Bryan Voltaggio\u00a0\u2014 who recently won the Food Network’s “Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas” alongside his brother, Michael Voltaggio\u00a0\u2014 will host two cooking demonstrations on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Chefs will partner with Pennsylvania farmers during food demonstrations. In addition, there will also be food safety tips shared.<\/p>\n
\u2014 There will be daily classes as part of a series called “So, You Want To Be a Farmer?”<\/p>\n
\u2014 In addition to cheese, wine, cider and beer competitions, there will be a PA spirits competition this year, featuring drinks from the state’s distilleries.<\/p>\n
\u2014 In celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday, there will be interactive crafts and displays in conjunction with America250PA.<\/p>\n
What Lancaster connections are there?<\/p>\n
The PA Farm Show is a massive undertaking with thousands of people behind the scenes and doing demonstrations. Two close-to-home connections include:<\/p>\n
\u2014 New Providence resident Maria Siegrist<\/a>, who attends school in the Solanco School District, will sing the national anthem at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Siegrist has also previously performed as part of American Music Theatre’s annual Christmas show, and she sang the national anthem at the Solanco Fair in 2024.<\/p>\n \u2014 Chef John Moeller, owner and executive chef at the Greenfield Restaurant & Bar, will head a cooking demonstration at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, making saut\u00e9ed veal medallions with mushrooms and a fine herb mustard cream sauce. Formerly, Moeller was a White House chef from 1992-2005, cooking for the Bush and Clinton administrations (though, for Clinton’s administration, he was the sous chef).<\/p>\n Know of any others?
