(AP) \u2014 Democratic Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/josh-shapiro\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Shapiro<\/a> set another campaign finance record for Pennsylvania with $30 million on hand as he seeks a second term this fall, his campaign said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Pennsylvania has emerged as the nation\u2019s premier <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/pennsylvania-democrats-trump-harris-bob-casey-election-fe194ab48323c645c5909e12b5fb3720\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">presidential battleground<\/a> state, and Shapiro\u2019s strong showing in the 2022 governor\u2019s race <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-successor-democrats-2028-presidential-hopefuls-e335f0b82972e683cdd346f0d9ea881b\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">elevated his profile<\/a> within the Democratic Party, where he\u2019s viewed as a potential 2028 White House contender.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">In the general election, Shapiro, 52, is expected to face Stacy Garrity, the twice-elected state treasurer who has been endorsed by the state Republican Party. Garrity had yet to report campaign fundraising details as of Tuesday. The deadline to file campaign finance reports with the state is Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Shapiro isn\u2019t expected to face a serious challenge in the May 19 primary election. The deadline to submit paperwork to get on the primary election ballot is March 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Shapiro\u2019s $30 million dwarfs the previous state record for a candidate heading into an election year. Shapiro set the previous record, reporting $13.4 million <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/elections-pennsylvania-campaigns-labor-unions-ceac8379af4e3da3cb55500645bc1d4d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">at the start of 2022<\/a>.
