U. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – An incident shut down a Wawa in Lehigh County for hours on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Police, fire crews and the bomb squad responded the Wawa in\u00a0Upper Saucon Township on Tuesday. Crews were sent to the store on Route 309 after a 911 call was made shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to county dispatchers.<\/p>\n

Authorities say an uninvolved customer walked by a vehicle in the store’s parking lot and saw a suspicious device on the passenger seat.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, police secured the perimeter and requested assistance from the Allentown Bomb Squad. The bomb squad took away the device.<\/p>\n

Jake Caplen works nearby and said he stops at Wawa each day.<\/p>\n

“I went in there and grabbed a sandwich and it was just a normal day. Don’t expect to drive down the road and see a bunch of cop cars,” said Caplen.<\/p>\n

The area was closed off for hours.<\/p>\n

Police blocked off part of Route 309 near the Wawa for 20-30 minutes.<\/p>\n

Police say the device is being investigated.<\/p>\n

They say no threat was made toward Wawa or the public.<\/p>\n

Nobody was hurt and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
