Officials with the city and the School District of Philadelphia, are expected to gather on Wednesday to share details on the “2026 State of Public Education,” that, organizers said, will include progress the district has made over the past year and a look at future plans.<\/p>\n
In a statement ahead of Wednesday’s event, organizers said Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, the School District of Philadelphia’s Superintendent Tony Watlington and other school and municipal officials are expected to gather at Thomas Edison High School in North Philly for the morning remarks. <\/p>\n
Philadelphia municipal and school officials are expected to present the 2026 State of Public Education address beginning at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The event will be livestreamed at the top of this article. <\/p>\n
Ahead of the morning event, organizers did not detail just what topics would be discussed during the day. But, they said in a statement, officials would discuss “the progress of the school district and students and share where the district is headed in the future.” <\/p>\n
Parker, officials said, is expected to provide additional comments on how the city plans to continue to be involved in the district’s progress and how municipal officials intend to support the district in the new year. <\/p>\n
