WEST PITTSTON \u2014 A firefighter was injured and a family displaced from their home when a fire broke out on the corner of Luzerne and Franklin streets on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
Fire and emergency crews from West Pittston, Avoca, Duryea, Exeter, Greater Pittston and Kingston were called to 508 Luzerne Ave. in West Pittston around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to fight the fire.<\/p>\n
West Pittston fire chief John Hood told reporters that the fire was believed to have started in a second-floor bedroom.<\/p>\n
All occupants of the home were safe and accounted for, according to Hood, and the fire was brought under control by responding crews in short order.<\/p>\n
There was no further information offered on the extent of the injuries to the firefighter, who was transported for medical attention.<\/p>\n
Hood said that he didn\u2019t believe the home to be a total loss, with much of the damage confined to the second floor.<\/p>\n
