Abington Heights girls soccer standout Lilia Calvert and Lackawanna Trail football player Isaac Ryon each received state Player of the Year awards, highlighting a series of recent honors for fall sports athletes.<\/p>\n

Both enjoyed record-setting careers individually while helping their teams to multiple championships.<\/p>\n

Calvert was selected as the Girls Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association. The Rutgers commit also earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-America team.<\/p>\n

Capping a career that produced more than 150 goals and Abington Heights\u2019 only trip to the state championship game, Calvert scored 68 goals as a senior. That was the highest total in the country among teams that report their statistics through maxpreps.com.<\/p>\n

Ryon was named Class A Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers. He was also a first-team Class A all-state selection on the PAFootballNews.com Coaches Select Team. He received the Fiore Cesare Award for academic excellence, community involvement, character and impact on the Lackawanna Football Conference.<\/p>\n

Ryon led District 2 in scoring each of the past two seasons, producing more than 300 points as a senior. He also led the district in rushing this season with 2,856 yards and 49 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Calvert was not the only Abington Heights soccer player honored on the state level and beyond.<\/p>\n

Nico Bustos, a member of the state Class 3A championship team, was named to the boys\u2019 all-state team by the PSCA and was one of 10 Pennsylvania players selected as Regional All-Americans by USC.<\/p>\n

Abington Heights wide receiver Gavin Anders was a Class 5A all-state selection by sports writers and was a second-team choice on the Coaches Select team.<\/p>\n

Ryon was joined by Lackawanna Trail teammates in receiving all-state recognition following the team\u2019s LFC Division 3 and District 2-11 Class A Subregional title repeats.<\/p>\n

Offensive lineman Lucas Evans was a choice by sports writers and was a Class A second-team pick on the Coaches Select squad.<\/p>\n

Linebacker Tyler Jervis and offensive lineman Anthony Paolucci joined Ryon on the Class A Coaches Select first team.<\/p>\n

Three Scranton Prep players made the Class 3A Coaches Select team.<\/p>\n

Braedon McPartland was a first-team linebacker, while Will McPartland and Anthony De Los Santos made the second team as an offensive athlete and defensive tackle.<\/p>\n

Greta Krimmel from Lackawanna Trail was a first-team Class A selection on the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association all-state team.<\/p>\n

Lady Lions teammate Megan Fahey was a second-team choice and Lyla Ryon received honorable mention.<\/p>\n
