{"id":81302,"date":"2026-01-08T13:20:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T13:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/81302\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T13:20:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T13:20:12","slug":"oakes-kaszuba-galko-lead-scranton-prep-to-win-over-elk-lake-in-girls-swimming-showdown-scranton-times-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/81302\/","title":{"rendered":"Oakes, Kaszuba, Galko lead Scranton Prep to win over Elk Lake in girls swimming showdown \u2013 Scranton Times-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scranton Prep\u2019s all-star lineup of swimmers dominated in a 95-61 win over defending Lackawanna League champion Elk Lake on Wednesday night in a girls\u2019 swimming meet at the University of Scranton.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Oakes posted wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free, as she battled Elk Lake\u2019s Brynn Warriner in a matchup of All-Region athletes and District 2 champions.<\/p>\n<p>Oakes, last season\u2019s Times-Tribune Girls Swimmer of the Year, won the 50 free in 25.02 seconds, finishing just ahead of Warriner, who had a time of 25.73. Oakes won the 100 free in 54.87.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Oakes competed on the winning 200 medley and the 200 free relays for the undefeated Classics.<\/p>\n<p>Eva Kaszuba, a returning district champion and PIAA Class 2A medal winner, won the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, and was also a member of two winning relay teams. Aiden Diaz, who made four 3-pointers, added 13 points for the Invaders.<\/p>\n<p>Honesdale 58, Western Wayne 49:\u00a0Levi Martin scored 16 points to lead <a href=\"http:\/\/varsity.the570.com\/Honesdale\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Hornets to a Division II win<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Ramos knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, and Gavin Briggs had 10 points for Honesdale (6-5, 2-1).<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Lawlor drilled seven 3-pointers for 21 points to lead Western Wayne (2-8, 0-3).
