{"id":81522,"date":"2026-01-08T18:07:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T18:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/81522\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T18:07:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T18:07:08","slug":"second-lawsuit-filed-after-explosion-at-bristol-pennsylvania-nursing-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/81522\/","title":{"rendered":"Second lawsuit filed after explosion at Bristol, Pennsylvania nursing home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new lawsuit has been filed after an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/pennsylvania-nursing-home-explosion-bristol\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">explosion at a Bristol, Pennsylvania, nursing home<\/a> on Dec. 23, 2025,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/nursing-home-explosion-bristol-pennsylvania-pa-update-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">killed three people and injured several others<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The suit was filed Wednesday in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of two residents of the Bristol Health and Rehab Center who were injured in the blast.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The suit claims both Plaintiffs suffered intracranial bleeding, a traumatic brain injury and bone fractures among other injuries,&#8221; Philadelphia-based law firm Fritz &amp; Bianculli said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>PECO and the nursing home&#8217;s parent company, Saber Healthcare Group, as well as its former operator, Silver Lake, are listed as defendants.<\/p>\n<p>The suit alleges that the explosion was caused by &#8220;carelessness, negligence, and recklessness of the defendants,&#8221; and claims the people responsible for the property allowed a gas leak to exist and failed to properly address it.<\/p>\n<p>The suit also claims the facility lacked an emergency evacuation plan.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 to reimburse them for medical expenses and compensate them and their loved ones for mental anguish, according to the suit.<\/p>\n<p>A PECO spokesperson said the utility was not permitted to comment on the suit due to its involvement in the National Transportation Safety Board&#8217;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>CBS News Philadelphia has reached out to Saber for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Another lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/bristol-nursing-home-explosion-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">filed earlier this month<\/a> accuses PECO, its parent company Exelon, Bristol Health &amp; Rehab Center and its owners Saber Healthcare Holdings and Saber Healthcare Group of negligence.
