KATELYN GOOD MORNING TO YOU. FAIR TO SAY THE REASON WHY STATE POLICE ARE TELLING PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS AREA IS BECAUSE THEY’RE STILL TRYING TO DEAL WITH A ACTIVE SCENE OF THE DAMAGE THAT WAS LEFT BEHIND FROM THIS CAR THAT CRASHED INTO THIS BUILDING. I WANT TO STEP OUT OF THE FRAME HERE TO SHOW YOU THE DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN LEFT BEHIND BECAUSE, YEAH, THAT CAR COMPLETELY INTO THAT BUILDING THERE RIGHT BEHIND US HERE THIS MORNING. THIS IS IN THE ROUNDABOUT OF HAMPTON, THE TOWN OF HAMPTON, HERE IN READING TOWNSHIP OF ADAMS COUNTY, WHERE AGAIN, STATE POLICE HAVE TOLD US, RATHER, DISPATCHERS TOLD US THAT THERE WAS THAT HIGH SPEED PURSUIT THAT TOOK PLACE A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THIS MORNING. AND AS A RESULT OF THAT PERSON WHO WAS FLEEING FROM POLICE, ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THAT BUILDING. OTHER THAN THAT, THE THE DETAILS AS OF RIGHT NOW ARE VERY SLIM AS OF RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN TIGHT LIPPED HERE ON THE SCENE. THEY HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO TELL US A WHOLE LOT OF DETAILS OTHER THAN LIKE I SAID, THERE WAS A HIGH SPEED PURSUIT AND THAT ONE PERSON WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER THAT CRASH TOOK PLACE. WHETHER THAT WAS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, SOMEONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE, SOMEONE IN THE BUILDING, WHICH PROBABLY WOULDN’T BE THE CASE AT THIS HOUR. BUT AGAIN, THOSE ARE THE DETAILS. WE’RE STILL WORKING TO FIND OUT. BUT ONE PERSON TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AS A RESULT OF THIS, WHAT WAS A HIGH SPEED CRASH THAT TOOK PLACE HERE A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THIS MORNING? THE TIMING OF IT, STATUS OF THE SUSPECT, ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THOSE ARE THE DETAILS WE’RE GOING TO BE TRYING TO GET HERE THROUGHOUT THE MORNING HOURS. SO STICK WITH US. WE’LL BE HERE ON SCENE BRINGING YOU THE LATEST DETAILS AS SOON AS WE GET THEM BOTH ON AIR AND ONLINE AT WGAL.COM. FOR NOW, WE’RE LIVE IN READING TOWNSHIP. THIS MORNING. THAT’S ADAMS COUNTY, JACOB HUNZIKER FOR WGAL NEWS EIGHT. AND JACOB, IT’S KIND OF DIFFICULT FOR US TO TELL. MAYBE YOU CAN TELL BETTER THERE ON THE SCENE. I KNOW YOU REFERRED TO IT AS A BUILDING. IS IT A HOME? IS IT A BUSINESS? DO YOU KNOW? THAT IS ACTUALLY A GREAT QUESTION. SO WHENEVER I SPOKE WITH DISPATCHERS IN THE LAST HOUR OR SO, THEY DID TELL ME THEY BELIEVED IT WAS A CAFE, A BUSINESS. THEY DON’T BELIEVE THAT IT’S A HOME. AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL BEHIND ME, IT DOES LOOK LIKE THAT IS THE CASE. THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF A SIGN RIGHT ABOVE WHERE THAT CAR IS THAT MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT IT WAS SOME SORT OF A BUSINESS, WHETHER THAT’S ACTUALLY A CAFE, THOUGH, OR SOME OTHER TYPE OF BUSINESS THAT I’M STILL WORKING TO FIND OUT, BUT IT DOES NOT, I WANT TO REPEAT, DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT IS A HOME. SO THAT’S DEFINITELY A DETAIL HERE THAT WE’RE STILL WORKING TO CONFIRM THOUGH, AND WE’LL BRING THAT TO YOU AS SOON AS WE CAN HERE. KATELYN. ALL RIGHT, JACOB. THANK YOU. YEAH. HAPPENED AROUND 330 THIS MORNING. AND OBVIOUSLY, AS YOU MENTIONED, STILL TRY

High-speed chase ends with vehicle lodged into Adams County business, troopers say

   Updated: 6:48 AM EST Jan 9, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

A high-speed chase ended with a vehicle lodged into an Adams County business.
