{"id":82525,"date":"2026-01-09T16:44:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T16:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/82525\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T16:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T16:44:08","slug":"pittsburgh-investment-manager-pleads-guilty-to-3-7m-wire-fraud-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/82525\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh investment manager pleads guilty to $3.7M wire fraud \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A Pittsburgh investment manager pleaded guilty in federal court to a wire fraud charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Thomas Pipich Jr., 74, pleaded guilty in connection with alleged conduct between May 2017 and August 2023, the Department of Justice says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to prosecutors, Pipich transferred more than $3.7 million from the bank account of a fund that he managed to another client\u2019s account. He allegedly did so to backfill investment losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Pipich lied to the victim fund\u2019s members, including saying the funds were part of a secured loan, the DOJ says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Pipich allegedly paid himself and his wife more than $800,000 from the funds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Sentencing is scheduled for May 12.
