Kendal Wharton Lambert, of the 100 block of South 6th Street, now heads to non-traffic court on summary charges<\/p>\n

Felony and misdemeanor assault charges were withdrawn Wednesday against an Upper Darby man who was accused of attacking two women with a screwdriver at an apartment in Lower Salford Township.<\/p>\n

Kendal Wharton Lambert, 31, of the 100 block of South 6th Street, now heads to non-traffic court on summary harassment and public drunkenness offenses, according to Montgomery County court records.<\/p>\n

Lambert was initially charged by Lower Salford Police with aggravated assault and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault in the April 22 incident.<\/p>\n

On that date, at 10:12 p.m., police were called to the Pheasant Run Apartments at 150 Main St. after four different people called about a couple arguing outside and another woman screaming to call 911, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, police found Wharton Lambert and two women fighting on the front porch of an apartment, with the women screaming, \u201cGet him, he has a screwdriver,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

Wharton Lambert was detained and he dropped a screwdriver out of his left hand, police allege. He was allegedly irate and uncooperative and told police he was not going to talk.<\/p>\n

Police said the defendant was drinking at the apartment, when he suddenly became irate. He went outside and allegedly threw a bicycle at the front window of the apartment, before going to the backyard and throwing a grill into the back door.<\/p>\n

Police said he also flipped a patio table before re-entering the apartment. Wharton Lambert was told repeatedly to leave, but he refused, police said. A fight started, as the women attempted to force him out.<\/p>\n

He allegedly picked up a screwdriver and began making stabbing motions at the victims. While trying to get him out, he allegedly stabbed each victim in the left hand, drawing blood.<\/p>\n

The defendant is currently awaiting trial in Delaware County Common Pleas Court on 20 charges stemming from a May 2024 arrest in Upper Darby Township. Charges include three felony counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle with DUI and fleeing police, per charging documents.<\/p>\n
