Motorists traveling through Lehigh County<\/a> should prepare for lane restrictions and delays as PennDOT begins multiple road maintenance<\/a> and construction projects across the region.<\/p>\n

Work starts Monday, Jan. 11, with line painting on Interstate 78 between Exit 57 at Lehigh Street and Exit 60 at Route 309 in Allentown. A PennDOT contractor will restrict lanes in both directions from 7 a.m. to noon that day.<\/p>\n

The most extensive project begins Tuesday, Jan. 12, on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township between Center Street and Chestnut Street. A PennDOT contractor will conduct construction work including signal upgrades, intersection improvements, and Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramps through Oct. 30, 2026. Shoulder restrictions will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with lane restrictions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

PennDOT maintenance forces will also conduct crack sealing on multiple roads starting Jan. 12. Affected areas include Trexlertown Road in Upper Macungie Township, Hamilton Boulevard between Weiler\u2019s Road and Route 222, Route 29 between the Berks County line and Cedar Crest Boulevard, and Spinnerstown Road, Dillingersville Road, and Zionsville Road in Lower Milford Township. Additional crack sealing work will take place on State Avenue and Lehigh Street in Emmaus and Allentown through Jan. 16.<\/p>\n

Bridge repair work will create lane restrictions with flagging on Route 143 in Lynn Township between Madison Street and Mosserville Road from Jan. 14-16. Similar bridge work will affect Limeport Pike in Upper Saucon Township between Spinnerstown Road and Elementary Road from Jan. 12-13, 2026.<\/p>\n

Brush cutting operations will require lane restrictions with flagging on Shankweiler Road in North Whitehall Township between Route 309 and Cedar Crest Boulevard from Jan. 14-16, 2026, and on Old Post Road between Routes 329 and 873 from Jan. 12-13, 2026.<\/p>\n

Most work is scheduled for daytime hours between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., though times vary by project. None of the scheduled work is expected to be delayed by rain, according to PennDOT.<\/p>\n

Motorists can check road conditions by visiting www.511PA.com<\/a> or calling 5-1-1. The service provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
