Protests held across the country this weekend showed the sharp divide in opinion over a shooting involving an ICE agent in Minnesota. <\/p>\n
Renee Good, 37, was shot and killed by an immigration officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump\u2019s administration has defended the agent, claiming he acted defensively after Good tried to ram him and other agents with her vehicle.<\/p>\n
In the shooting\u2019s wake, thousands of demonstrators have voiced their opposition to federal immigration operations in communities throughout the nation.<\/p>\n
CLICK HERE TO SEE PHOTOS OF PROTESTS IN OUR AREA<\/a><\/p>\n Channel 11 reporter Frederick Price was in Pittsburgh\u2019s South Side on Sunday at a protest organizers call \u201cICE Out For Good.\u201d<\/p>\n Hundreds of people attended, with signs sending clear messages of disapproval of immigration and customs enforcement in the City of Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n Demonstrators tell Channel 11 they wanted to remember Renee Good\u2019s life, as well as demand accountability.<\/p>\n \u201cSomebody was murdered in broad daylight by an agent of the state,\u201d said Paul Johnson of Lawrenceville. \u201cThey\u2019ve done nothing wrong. … They were only trying to make sure the people they love and care for had their civil rights protected.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just really sad about the whole situation,\u201d said Anna Haughwout of McKeesport. \u201cIt\u2019s just tragic for the poor woman who was killed, and it\u2019s tragic for the officer that killed her.\u201d<\/p>\n Mayor Corey O\u2019Connor recently confirmed his stance that the City of Pittsburgh will not cooperate with ICE.<\/p>\n Demonstrators also gathered in Greensburg, at the Westmoreland County Courthouse.<\/p>\n \u201cAt this point, we are all very worried that the federal government is murdering essentially protesters in the streets,\u201d protester Abigail Graham-Pardus said.<\/p>\n Another demonstration drew people to the Washington County Courthouse in Washington.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re here for justice for Renee Good, who was trying to drive away in her car,\u201d protester Sharon Laffey said. \u201cShe was driving away, and no police officer should shoot somebody three times when they\u2019re trying to drive away.\u201d<\/p>\n Uniontown\u2019s George Marshall Plaza saw a rally on Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n Download the FREE WPXI News app<\/a> for breaking news alerts.<\/p>\n Follow Channel 11 News on Facebook<\/a> and Twitter<\/a>. | Watch WPXI NOW<\/a><\/p>\n TOP STORIES FROM CHANNEL 11 NEWS <\/p>\n \u00a92026 Cox Media Group<\/p>\n
