{"id":84713,"date":"2026-01-12T16:38:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/84713\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T16:38:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:38:07","slug":"city-launches-first-annual-meter-reading-week-encourages-winnipeggers-to-submit-meter-readings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/84713\/","title":{"rendered":"City launches first annual Meter Reading week, encourages Winnipeggers to submit meter readings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Winnipeg is encouraging residents to read their meters as they kick off their first Meter Reading week.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to encourage customers to submit readings, so they only pay for the water they use.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Submitting a water meter reading takes less than a minute, and it helps you get more accurate billing,&#8221; said Chair of the Water, Waste and the Environment Committee Ross Eadie.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Winnipeg homeowners are required by law to provide one meter reading per year, with the hope that customers will work towards providing readings each time they receive a meter reading reminder by mail or email.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The city says estimated bills can leave customers paying too much or too little, and it can also hide leaks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A leak the size of a pencil lead can cost around $20 a day,&#8221; said Eadie. &#8220;Providing accurate meter reads every time you get your meter reading reminder can help identify leaks much faster.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The city says submitting a meter reading is simple.
