Aaron Rodgers\u2019 first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers came to a crashing end in the AFC Wild Card playoff round in a 30-6 defeat to the Houston Texans Monday night at Acrisure Stadium.<\/p>\n
The Steelers\u2019 offense had no answers for the vaunted Houston defense and could only muster a pair of first-half field goals. Veteran quarterback Rodgers finished 17-for-33 for 146 yards and an interception in what could be the final game of the 42-year-old, four-time NFL MVP\u2019s career.<\/p>\n
Time will tell if it was Rodgers\u2019 first and only season with the Steelers.<\/p>\n
Rodgers addressed questions about his NFL future during his postgame remarks, indicating he would take his time with a decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to make any emotional decisions,\u201d Rodgers said. \u201dDisappointed. Such a fun year. A lot of adversity, a lot fun. Been a great year. Overall in my life in the last year, this has been a really good part of that, coming here and being a part of this team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rodgers mulled retirement last offseason after two terrible seasons with the New York Jets following his Hall of Fame-caliber 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. He joined Pittsburgh on a one-year contract in June 2025.<\/p>\n
His process for deciding his NFL future: \u201cGet away and have the right conversations,\u201d Rodgers said,<\/p>\n
Rodgers declined to answer when asked, \u2018If you play again, do you want it to be here?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about that,\u201d Rodgers said.<\/p>\n
During his remarks, Rodgers reflected on his time playing in two \u2018incredible football cities\u2019 in Green Bay and Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was fortunate to play in an incredible football city for 18 years. I never took it for granted and enjoyed that time there. This has been a really beautiful back end to that first 18, to be able to be here for a year. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a special place. You\u2019ve got tradition, you\u2019ve got excellence, all-time greats. You just look around the stadium tonight just to see the fans. There wasn\u2019t a big splattering of Texans fans, and there\u2019s a lot to be said about that. There\u2019s a few really special places in the league that have the tradition and the town and the organization, and I\u2019m thankful I played for two of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rodgers is fifth in NFL career passing yards (66,274) and fourth in career TDs (527).
