Rudolph \u201cRudy\u201d Mertens, age 94, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 10, 2026.<\/p>\n
\nBorn in Herdorf, Germany, he was the youngest son of Peter and Thekla (Frensch) Mertens.<\/p>\n
\nTo read Rudy\u2019s full obituary, please visit www.BKRFH.com<\/a><\/p>\n \nRudy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Warda Mertens, to whom he was married for 58 years; his brothers Ernst, Alfred, and Joseph; his sister Anneliese, all of Germany, and his brother-in-law Edward Warda of Exton, PA.<\/p>\n \nHe is survived by Ann Mertens Reinbold and her husband Greg of Macungie, and their daughter Rachel; Rose Mertens Lance and her husband Fred of Scranton; Claire Mertens Marseglia and her husband Michael of Ramsey, New Jersey, and their children Matthew, Christopher, and Nicholas; his loving sister-in-law Jean Warda; his loving sister Maria of Germany; and several beloved nieces and nephews in Germany.<\/p>\n \nServices: Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, January 16, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1046 W. Cedar Street, Allentown.
