{"id":85486,"date":"2026-01-13T12:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T12:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/85486\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T12:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T12:35:07","slug":"bethlehem-area-school-district-to-investigate-cracks-in-six-year-old-nitchman-middle-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/85486\/","title":{"rendered":"Bethlehem Area School District to investigate cracks in six-year-old Nitchman Middle School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2014 Bethlehem Area School District will pay for an investigation of cracks that have developed in the floors and walls at Nitschmann Middle School, which was built in 2017. <\/p>\n<p>It was revealed at a School Board committee meeting Monday that the board on Jan. 26 will vote on a cost-sharing agreement among the project architect, prime contractor and project manager for the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>It will look into the \u201csettlement issue\u201d with the middle school building, which cost $53.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cNothing observed or evaluated is of a structural nature that impacts the safety&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bethlehem Area School Board Agenda Item <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing observed or evaluated is of a structural nature that impacts the safety of the building, but cracks have developed enough to warrant repairs,\u201d the school board agenda item states.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation would include a laser survey of the building to be conducted three times over the next year.
