Stratford City Council on Monday approved a pilot program that will allow downtown residents to purchase monthly overnight parking passes at the Erie Street parking lot.<\/p>\n
A staff report presented to council recommended a year-long pilot project that would offer five monthly passes at $100 each.<\/p>\n
Daily permits will also be made available.<\/p>\n
Coun. Larry McCabe proposed an amendment that monthly passes should be for downtown residents only, which passed.<\/p>\n
The report proposes increasing monthly day-use parking permits from 24 to 35.<\/p>\n
Demand has increased significantly, the report states, with 30 people on the waitlist for a monthly day-use parking permit at the Erie Street lot.<\/p>\n
The lot has 148 parking spaces.<\/p>\n
The staff report says revenue from the expanded Erie lot monthly permit and overnight program is estimated at nearly $70,000.<\/p>\n
The pilot program aims to evaluate demand and optimize parking resources.<\/p>\n
