ALLENTOWN, Pa. \u2014 Plans for a seven-story, 44-apartment building on Walnut Street received preliminary final approval from the city planning commission Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Known as The Quarter, the project by applicant Sean Billings, of Acela Architects + Engineers, of Allentown, consists of a subdivision of two lots.<\/p>\n
An existing office building at 411 W. Walnut St. will remain, with the apartment building to be constructed at 405 W. Walnut at Walnut and South Fourth streets.<\/p>\n
The first two stories of the apartment building will include a lobby, interior parking garage and 30 parking spaces, one entrance from South Fourth Street and one from South College Street.<\/p>\n

One- and two-bedroom apartments will be offered. Monthly rent has not yet been established, officials said.<\/p>\n
A rooftop lounge with green elements incorporated also are noted in the plans.<\/p>\n
Additional plans and information are needed before final approval, the planning commission said.<\/p>\n
They include floor plans, a lighting plan, analysis of any steep slope disturbance and additional landscaping for a multi-family dwelling.<\/p>\n
The planning commission also advised providing electric charging spaces to support tenants who have electric and\/op plug-in hybrid vehicles.<\/p>\n
The planners also urged the applicant to resolve the potential hazard of delivery vehicles double-parking along Walnut Street.<\/p>\n
