Lower Merion is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Marple Newtown just ended the team’s four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fightin’ Tigers.<\/p>\n

Lower Merion was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marple Newtown work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 26-24, 13-25, 25-22.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Academy at Palumbo waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins… but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Lancers as they made off with a 3-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that’s the biggest win the Griffin have posted against the Lancers since March 23, 2021.<\/p>\n

Academy at Palumbo’s victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Lower Merion, they now have a losing record of 10-11.<\/p>\n

Lower Merion beat Academy at Palumbo 3-1 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aces since the team won’t have the home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.<\/p>\n
