Photo courtesy of micheile henderson<\/a> on Unsplash<\/a><\/p>\n To support local early learning education, Orrstown Bank contributed $6,000 to the YMCA of Reading & Berks County through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.<\/p>\n Donations made through the EITC program allow eligible businesses to direct tax credits toward proven education and youth programs.<\/p>\n \u201cOrrstown Bank\u2019s support helps us open doors for families who need quality early learning and dependable care. It\u2019s an investment that strengthens not just our YMCA and its families, but also the stability of our community,\u201d said Phillip Borup, President & CEO, YMCA of Reading & Berks County. \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly thankful for the support. Together, we\u2019re able to help ease the burden on working families through reliable, trusted childcare and educational enrichment.\u201d<\/p>\n Orrstown Bank\u2019s contribution toward the Y\u2019s Open Door Scholarships enables children to attend early learning programs regardless of their families\u2019 financial constraints. The funds also support Y\u2019s staff development, curriculum enhancements, and classroom supplies that directly benefit the children.<\/p>\n Expanding access among more families means more students can get the pre-kindergarten readiness and exposure to learning they need to make them successful students. Early learning teaches academic and social skills while building children\u2019s confidence, which are building blocks to thriving.<\/p>\n Both YMCA Early Learning Center locations in Reading and Richmond hold a STAR 4 designation, the highest in the state through Pennsylvania Keystone STARS. Supporting these programs provides children with high-quality education, giving them an edge and preparing them for lifelong learning.<\/p>\n
