Almost exactly 24 hours after Mike Tomlin stepped down as the head coach of the team after 19 seasons, Pittsburgh requested to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Shula is the grandson of all-time great NFL coach Don Shula. The 39-year-old is in his second season as the Rams defensive coordinator and has been an enormous part of the Rams defensive success after Aaron Donald\u2019s retirement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It\u2019s safe to say that nobody has done more with less than Shula over the last two years. Steelers fans should be excited at the prospect of what Shula could potentially do with T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Nick Herbig at his disposal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Interestingly, it was reported at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.behindthesteelcurtain.com\/pittsburgh-steelers-news\/164707\/rams-defensive-coordinator-labeled-steelers-potential-next-head-coach-chris-shula\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the beginning of January that the Steelers were interested <\/a>in bringing Shula in as their next head coach, should Tomlin decide to walk away.
