{"id":87114,"date":"2026-01-15T03:03:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T03:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/87114\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T03:03:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T03:03:07","slug":"terriers-outlast-mountain-hawks-in-bethlehem-68-64","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/87114\/","title":{"rendered":"Terriers Outlast Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem, 68-64"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2013 Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/anastasiia-semenova\/26495\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26495\" target=\"_blank\">Anastasiia Semenova<\/a> dropped a season-high 18 points while classmate <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/anete-adler\/26484\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26484\" target=\"_blank\">Anete Adler<\/a> and junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/in-eacutes-monteagudo-pardo\/26493\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26493\" target=\"_blank\">In\u00e9s Monteagudo Pardo<\/a> each tallied 15 points to power the Boston University women&#8217;s basketball program to a 68-64 victory over defending Patriot League champion Lehigh on Wednesday evening at Stabler Arena.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBU (5-11, 1-4 PL) utilized a 21-point second quarter to take a lead it would not relinquish, snapping its four-game losing streak while handing the Mountain Hawks (8-8, 4-1 PL) their first Patriot League loss.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSemenova made nine of her 14 shots and scored 12 points in the first half. Monteagudo canned five three-pointers and dished out five assists. Adler led the Terriers with six rebounds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLily Fandre paced Lehigh with 17 points. Belle Bramer and Whitney Lind each posted 15 points.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tLehigh made four of its first five three-pointers and six of its first seven overall shots to build a 16-5 lead in the game&#8217;s first six minutes.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU cut the gap to one on a 10-0 run with consecutive threes from Monteagudo before Gracyn Lovette&#8217;s triple handed the Mountain Hawks a 19-15 edge after one quarter.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler&#8217;s and-1 at the 6:26 mark in the second period ignited a 7-0 Terrier run. She and Semenova made additional layups to put BU on top, 28-25.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMonteagudo lofted three passes to Semenova on the block that led to three baskets in the final 1:40 of the first half, giving BU a 36-28 halftime advantage.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSemenova and Monteagudo combined for the Terriers&#8217; first 10 points of the third quarter, with the latter burying two more triples to push BU&#8217;s lead to 46-36.&#13;<br \/>\n\tLehigh whittled the gap to five points before sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/rose-azmoudeh\/26497\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26497\" target=\"_blank\">Rose Azmoudeh<\/a> drilled a corner three. Junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/bella-mclaughlin\/26492\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26492\" target=\"_blank\">Bella McLaughlin<\/a> sank a driving layup, then Monteagudo&#8217;s fifth three-pointer extended the difference to 54-41, BU&#8217;s largest lead of the game.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSemenova opened the fourth quarter with a banked layup on a second-chance opportunity, but it was the last Terrier field goal for the next 3:18. Sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/allison-schwertner\/26494\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26494\" target=\"_blank\">Allison Schwertner<\/a> collected junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/aoibhe-gormley\/26489\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26489\" target=\"_blank\">Aoibhe Gormley&#8217;s<\/a> pass for a layup that made it 58-51 with 5:18 to play.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler nailed a jumper at the 3:03 mark to give BU a six-point lead, 62-56. However, a 6-0 Mountain Hawk run, with four coming from Whitney Lind&#8217;s foul shots, sliced the gap to 62-61 with 1:03 remaining.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler, sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/hildur-gunnsteinsd-oacute-ttir\/26491\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"26491\" target=\"_blank\">Hildur Gunnsteinsd\u00f3ttir<\/a> and McLaughlin were able to hit their free throws from that point to seal the victory.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Terriers made 56.3 percent of their shots, the fourth time in the last six games BU&#8217;s field goal percentage was over 46 percent.&#13;<br \/>\n\tLehigh made just over 35 percent of its shots and were 11-for-34 (32.4 percent) from beyond the arc.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU assisted on 23 of its 27 baskets. Gormley led the Terriers with six assists.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Terriers also had the edge in paint points (38-18), bench points (30-8) and rebounds (30-23).&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Mountain Hawks turned 17 Terrier turnovers into 20 points.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSemenova leads the team with a .590 field goal percentage during conference action. She is averaging 10 points per game in those contests.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAdler is the third Terrier under fifth-year head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/goterriers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/melissa-graves\/8316\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"8316\" target=\"_blank\">Melissa Graves<\/a> to score at least 12 points in her first five Patriot League games, joining Caitlin Weimar (2023-24) and Sydney Johnson (2021-22).&#13;<br \/>\n\tMonteagudo&#8217;s five three-pointers establish a new personal best while her 15 points matches her career high from her performance at Northeastern on Dec. 22, 2023. She paired her five assists with zero turnovers.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU captured its first road win since Nov. 15 at New Haven.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe all-time series between the Terriers and Mountain Hawks stands at 14-14.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>UP NEXT<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBU returns to Case Gym to host Loyola Maryland on Saturday (Jan. 17).
