A Slatington woman has been selected to round out the Northern Lehigh School Board.<\/p>\n
Joyce Thompson was the sole candidate to fill a vacant two-year term on the board.<\/p>\n
Thompson, who works as a part-time adjunct professor at Lehigh Carbon Community College, explained why she sought the seat.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just wanted to see more interaction between LCCC and Northern Lehigh,\u201d Thompson said. \u201cAnd there\u2019s a lot that can be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thompson, who also serves on the Slatington Public Library\u2019s board of trustees, said she believes it\u2019s important for the schools and the library to continue their interaction.<\/p>\n
Of her appointment to the school board, Thompson said she was very thankful.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to be beneficial and helpful on the board,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to make sure that the schools get involved, and the students.\u201d<\/p>\n
The position opened when newcomer Timothy Weaber, who won both a four-year and two-year term, declined the two-year term.<\/p>\n
