RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – To celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday the Rapid City Public Library is inviting the community to take part in a yearlong reading challenge.<\/p>\n
The goal is to read 250,000 books in 2026.<\/p>\n
Participants can track their reading online or submit a paper tracking form at the library to have their books counted toward the community goal.<\/p>\n
Each month a reader logs their reading, they earn an entry into that month\u2019s prize drawing, with additional entries each month if they continue participating.<\/p>\n
The top 10 readers in each age category will also earn a bonus entry that month.<\/p>\n
In the month of January, winners in the children, teens and adult categories will receive four center-ice tickets from the Rapid City Rush. Prizes change monthly, so readers are encouraged to check back to see what they could win simply by tracking their reading.<\/p>\n
The community\u2019s progress toward the 250,000-book goal can be followed on the library\u2019s website or on the mural displayed in the library lobby, with every painted block representing 100 books read.<\/p>\n
