SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Lackawanna County officials and the City of Scranton have extended Code Blue Frigid Weather Alerts into next week as dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are forecast to continue across the region.<\/p>\n
The Code Blue designation is issued when temperatures or wind chills are expected to fall below 20 degrees. The alert activates emergency plans aimed at protecting vulnerable residents, including individuals experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n
The following Code Blue periods have been declared:<\/p>\n

8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, until 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 (Wind chill near 4 degrees)8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 (Wind chill near 12 degrees)8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, until 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 (Wind chill near 12 degrees)<\/p>\n

8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, until 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 (Wind chill near 7 degrees) 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 (Wind chill near -3 degrees) 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 (Wind chill near -5 degrees)<\/p>\n
During Code Blue conditions, emergency shelter and warming services are available at the following locations:<\/p>\n
St. Anthony\u2019s Haven, 409 Olive Street, Scranton \u2014 open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Weston Field House, 982 Providence Road, Scranton \u2014 opens at 7:30 p.m. Community Intervention Center (CIC), 445 North 6th Avenue, Scranton \u2014 open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours if needed<\/p>\n
Officials say additional updates will be provided as weather conditions change.
