An Erie home was heavily damaged after a fire broke out Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Calls for that fire went out at 10:38 am in the 1800 block of West 22nd Street with heavy smoke pouring from the home\u2019s roof.<\/p>\n
Harbor Creek High School students interested in broadcast journalism visit JET 24 station <\/a><\/p>\n Flames and smoke billowed from the roof of the house as firefighters spent over an hour containing the fire through the falling snow and below-freezing temperatures.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone is okay, there were no people or animals that we know of inside the building when we got here,\u201d said John Herrmann, deputy chief of the Erie Fire Department.<\/p>\n Deputy Chief Hermann said the fire spread to the attic, burning from one end of the house to the other. He said a cause for the fire hasn\u2019t been determined yet, and fire marshals are investigating the incident.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were pulling out to go to lunch and smelled smoke, stopped at that driveway and the house is up in flames, again. He\u2019s been working on refurbishing ever since; he hasn\u2019t lived there,\u201d said Janet Mott, a neighbor.<\/p>\n TIMELAPSES: Snow coats the region Wednesday into Thursday <\/a><\/p>\n This is the second time firefighters have been called to a fire at the home in the past five months, with the first call happening in August 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe most miserable time to fight a fire is when it\u2019s cold like this.
