(WHTM) \u2014 Army and Navy squared off Thursday, not in football, but in cooking at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During the 2026 Army-Navy Cookoff, chefs from each side used Pennsylvania-grown ingredients to whip up some delicious dishes that were tasted by judges.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Army Sgt. Nicolas Adame and Navy Culinary Specialist Second Class Jonathan Ortiz, who cooks for Pete Hegseth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ortiz says that it can be nerve-wracking being the cook for the United States Secretary of War, but he is proud of where he is.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt could be nerve-wracking at some times but it shows were I came from and I\u2019m very proud to do so,\u201d Ortiz said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As for Hegseth\u2019s favorite food, Ortiz says Hegseth is a steak guy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ortiz has cooked for ships that are filled with thousands of people whom he has to feed four multiple times a day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"#sailthru-signup-widget\" data-ylk=\"slk:Close;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Close<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Thanks for signing up!<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Watch for us in your inbox.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Subscribe Now<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cUp to four times a day,\u201d Ortiz said. Despite being in the middle of the sea with no nearby grocery stores, Ortiz says it\u2019s challenging but fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAt times it can be difficult, but you can also get creative with it, and it\u2019s very fun because now you can see what you are capable of doing,\u201d Ortiz said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As some military historians may say, the Army or the Navy runs through its bellies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
