\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Walter J. Hoffert, Jr., also known as \u201cRed\u201d or \u201cWally\u201d, of West Lawn, passed<\/p>\n
away Wednesday August 27, 2025, after a brief stay at Mifflin Court,<\/p>\n
Shillington. Born in Reading, Mr. Hoffert was the son of the late Walter H.<\/p>\n
and Annie V. (Gallagher) Hoffert. He was a member of Saint John Baptist<\/p>\n
de la Salle Catholic Church and served in the United States Marine Corp<\/p>\n
during the Vietnam War. He was a saxophone player for various local<\/p>\n
bands in the Reading area for 15 years as well as a proud member of the<\/p>\n
Marine Corp Band for 4 years. Walter had a love for jazz music, the<\/p>\n
outdoors, fishing and camping. He was employed by Carpenter<\/p>\n
Technology for 30 years as a bar straightener in the finishing department<\/p>\n
until his retirement. Mr. Hoffert is survived by his daughter Janice L. Hoffert<\/p>\n
of Sinking Spring; his brothers James W. Hoffert husband of Judy Hoffert of<\/p>\n
Linwood, New Jersey and Joseph W. Hoffert of Reading. As well as two<\/p>\n
nieces and one nephew.<\/p>\n
The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home, located<\/p>\n
at 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, on Friday, September 5, 2025 from<\/p>\n
10:00 am to 11:15 am. Funeral Procession will depart Bean Funeral Home<\/p>\n
at 11:15 am to a prayer service, which will be held at the Chapel of Saint<\/p>\n
George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, at<\/p>\n
12:00 pm. Entombment with Military Honors rendered by the United States<\/p>\n
Marine Corp will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to<\/p>\n
