{"id":89465,"date":"2026-01-17T15:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T15:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/89465\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T15:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T15:21:11","slug":"jerome-street-water-main-break-affects-dozen-allentown-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/89465\/","title":{"rendered":"Jerome Street water main break affects dozen Allentown homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NFQXRV3CFBEZFJTW3USR4ZX7CQ\">An eight-inch water pipe rupture has closed roads and affected a dozen homeowners in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lehighvalleylive.com\/topic\/Allentown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.lehighvalleylive.com\/topic\/Allentown\">Allentown<\/a> neighborhood, authorities said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7OXFSICP45CN7ELIN4GG3ZQD3Q\">The water main break happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Jerome Street, Taylor Stakes, director of communications and strategic partnerships for the Lehigh County Authority, told lehighvalleylive.com.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"T63FKW6SVFCYZOHYE6N55MDJIE\">The authority shut down Jerome Street \u2014 between Cedar and East Kurtz streets \u2014 as crews work to repair the break. Customers are expected to experience low pressure or no water during the repairs, the authority said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TBOS54LCJJDR3FIGME2C4BNF4Y\">No evacuations or injuries were reported as a result of the rupture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BTFNQ64D25E5FN2BEVGZDLO2EE\">\u201cCrews are finishing repairs right now,\u201d Stakes noted at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2RTCFAANL5AZ7JJRNNJ3ZBFBJY\">He expected work to finish and water to be restored to all customers by 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
