GREENWICH TWP., Pa. – As a winter storm makes its way through the region, an accident involving nearly two dozen vehicles is causing major backups on I-78 near the Berks\/Lehigh County line.<\/p>\n
The crash happened this morning in the westbound lanes between exits #45 (Route 863\/New Smithville) and #35 (Route 143\/Lenhartsville.)<\/p>\n
Initial emergency dispatches called for a multi-vehicle crash in the area.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) confirm that 20+ vehicles are either disabled or piled up between Exits #35 and #40.<\/p>\n
I-78 is currently closed westbound between exits #45 and #35.<\/p>\n
The eastbound lanes are closed at Exit #35, according to PSP.<\/p>\n
It is not known at this time the total number of cars involved or how many people were injured.<\/p>\n
