After a quiet weekend of roadwork, activity kicks back into gear this week. Here\u2019s where to avoid:<\/p>\n

Fifth Avenue \u2013 There will be traffic restrictions around Fifth Avenue and Market Street for the next three weeks while Pittsburgh Regional Transit repairs a drainage problem around its new Market Square station in front of the triangle park at Fifth and Market. As a result, the station on Fifth Avenue and the inbound lane in front of it will be closed, along with Market Street between Fifth and Liberty Avenue in front of the Fairmont Hotel. Buses will move into the left outbound lane between Market and Liberty and traffic from Liberty won\u2019t be able to turn onto Fifth. Instead of Market Street, routes 61A, B and C, 71B, G2 and P1 will stop at Liberty Avenue at Market Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained.<\/p>\n

Route 28 \u2013 Construction on the emergency warning system for wrong-way drivers between Pittsburgh\u2019s North Side and Harmar will continue with overnight and daytime work this week. Overnight work will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in several locations. The inbound exit ramp to Millvale and the right lane approaching the ramp will be closed Monday and Tuesday for electrical work. Detours will be posted. Beginning Wednesday, the outbound exit to the 31st Street Bridge will close to allow guide rail, pavement marking and sign installation. Detours will be posted. If the southbound work is finished on Monday, the northbound work will move up to Tuesday, but both restrictions will not happen at the same time. Daylight shoulder restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the southbound off-ramp to the 31st Street Bridge Monday through Friday for electrical work. The $4.8 million warning system is scheduled to open early next year.<\/p>\n

Route 28 2 \u2013 Mobile and single-lane restrictions that will occur from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. started Sunday and will continue through Friday southbound between the Millvale and the Interstate 579\/279\/376\/Veterans Bridge\/Fort Pitt Bridge interchanges while crews conduct sealing and line painting operations. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Route 28 3 \u2013 Bridge washing activities will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, causing single-lane restrictions between the Harmar\/Pennsylvania Turnpike\/Route 910 and Freeport\/Millerstown interchanges.<\/p>\n

Interstate 79 \u2013 The southbound highway will have a single-lane restriction southbound from Mingo Road to about 1.5 miles north of the Interstate 279 split from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday. Work will shift to the same area on the northbound side from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. For other parts of the project, crews will be paving the temporary northbound off-ramp at Route 910, resulting in traffic being shifted onto the shoulders for work on the median, joint repair work and barrier installation. Crews also will start driving piles on the median from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the southbound off-ramp to Route 910 through late October. Weekdays shoulder restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late October in the highway work zone and all ramps at the Route 910 interchange.<\/p>\n

Birmingham Bridge \u2013 Crews will be inspecting the Forbes Avenue ramp to the bridge in Pittsburgh from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday resulting in single-lane restrictions.<\/p>\n

Route 65 \u2013 The ramp to the Fort Duquesne Bridge in Pittsburgh will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for bridge deck and barrier work. Additionally, the Allegheny Avenue\/Ridge Avenue\/Reedsdale Street ramps to the bridge will close overnights. Detours will be posted.<\/p>\n

Fort Duquesne Bridge \u2013 Ramp inspection activities will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, crews will inspect the ramp from the bridge to the 10th Street Bypass and below the bypass below the ramp from the bridge to the bypass. Tuesday\u2019s work will be on Fort Duquesne Boulevard to the bridge. \u00a0<\/p>\n

McKees Rocks Bridge \u2013 Sign inspection activities will require a single-lane restriction and traffic shift on the bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Only one direction will be closed at a time, and one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction.<\/p>\n
