PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Local artists lead their own workshop at the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) today.<\/p>\n

This includes Richard Watson, one of the collaborators behind the murals at the Church of the Advocate.<\/p>\n

All of this was to honor Martin Luther King Jr. this weekend.<\/p>\n

“We have a mission where we want to bring people together…in greater appreciation of the black experience through history, art and culture. This weekend, the museum is celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, and we’re doing so with a robust lineup of events,” said President & CEO of AAMP Dr. Ashley Jordan.<\/p>\n

For Martin Luther King Jr. Day tomorrow, they are hosting guests on free admission, where people can experience the Ruth E. Carter Exhibit.<\/p>\n

This impressive collection displays costumes from popular movies that Carter worked on.<\/p>\n
