a splash of cold reality<\/a>.<\/p>\nTwo days of snowy skies, slick roads, and assured this week that more bitter air is on the way.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re in northeast Pennsylvania, so you can\u2019t beat it,” said Cassie McGivney, of Taylor.<\/p>\n
All that was left was to clean it up, prepare for more, or maybe just embrace it.<\/p>\n
Walter Reaver is one of the thousands who spent the morning shoveling a few inches of snow off their sidewalk. Reaver wore shorts to do the job. Years of hunting deer and fishing on frozen lakes made him immune to the cold.<\/p>\n
“I’m feeling a little cold,” he laughed. “As I\u2019m getting older, so probably another year or two I\u2019ll be dressing…heh heh heh.”<\/p>\n
In Scranton, cars and trucks parked alongside Gerrity\u2019s Ace Hardware to stock up on rock salt for the coming freeze.<\/p>\n
Cole Cardona\u2019s business, Cardona\u2019s Outdoor Services, is set, but Cardona still needed to stock up for himself. He loaded three 50-pound bags of salt into his truck.<\/p>\n
It\u2019ll help a little bit, do the job for now,” he said.<\/p>\n
But for some, it isn\u2019t enough to just endure winter. The weather is a reason to celebrate.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If there is one group of people who are thrilled by the prospect of winter weather, it is the skiers and snowboarders at Elk Mountain Ski Resort near Union Dale in Susquehanna County.<\/p>\n
Resort staff said roughly 6 inches of snow had fallen during the morning, and cold temperatures were expected to linger around.<\/p>\n
Bring it on, said the winter sports enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
