GREENWICH TWP., Pa. – Six people were injured, one seriously, after the 11-vehicle crash that closed a stretch of I-78 in Berks County for hours over the weekend.<\/p>\n
In a news release, Pennsylvania State Police say the driver of a tractor trailer was driving too fast on the snow-covered surface on I-78 westbound just east of Hausman Road Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
State police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the center concrete barrier.<\/p>\n
Ten more vehicles, including three tractor trailers, then crashed into the first vehicle, state police said.<\/p>\n
According to state police, six drivers and passengers were taken to area hospitals for their injuries.<\/p>\n
Ten of the 11 involved vehicles were towed from the scene, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
State police say applicable traffic citations will be issued against the tractor trailer driver they say was going too fast.<\/p>\n
