Remake Learning Days returns to Southwestern Pennsylvania May 1\u201323, and organizations across the region are invited to host hands-on learning events for kids and families.<\/p>\n

As the world\u2019s largest open house of hands-on learning, Remake Learning Days<\/a> (RLD) shines a bright spotlight on all the places where young people learn, explore, and grow. Schools, libraries, museums, parks, farms, nonprofits, small businesses and more are all welcome to participate. Laundromats, firehouses, tech companies and local restaurants are also great places to host an event for families.<\/p>\n

The goal is simply to share your knowledge by teaching young people something you know or giving them space and supplies to try an activity. By devoting just an hour to give kids and their parents\/caregivers a chance to learn side-by-side, you help strengthen SWPA\u2019s learning ecosystem.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemake Learning Days gives families a window into the many places where learning happens every day,\u201d says festival co-producer and Kidsburgh director Yu-Ling Cheng. \u201cFrom libraries and parks to community centers, schools, and even barbershops, the festival highlights fun, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and creativity\u2014and celebrates the organizations making that learning possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

You can even apply for funding: RLD is offering a limited number of $150, $250, $350 and $500 event host awards to partnering organizations across Pennsylvania. These funds are to help event hosts offset costs of hosting their event. (Get details and apply here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Teens and parents\/educators can also apply to join the team of Remake Learning Days Ambassadors, who receive content creation training and a stipend for reviewing events. Info sessions about the RLD Ambassadors program are happening on these dates and you can learn more here<\/a>:<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s festival will be extra-special, as RLD celebrates its 10th anniversary. The festival will be spotlighting Southwestern Pennsylvania\u2019s incredible learning assets through a few exciting new themes:<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh\u2019s Emerging Industries: Families explore AI, robotics, climate tech, and space through hands-on workshops, real tools, and industry mentors.
\nShining a Spotlight on Careers: Kids \u201ctry on\u201d futures through playful career exploration with trades, healthcare, aviation, culinary arts, and more.
\nOutdoor Learning: Parks, rivers, farms, and green spaces become classrooms for nature-based discovery and adventure.
\nSites of Everyday Learning: Laundromats, firehouses, restaurants, and neighborhoods transform into unexpected learning spaces.
\nPittsburgh\u2019s Creative Industries: Youth create films, podcasts, zines, music, and art alongside Pittsburgh\u2019s vibrant creative community.<\/p>\n

Ready to host? Here\u2019s how it works:<\/p>\n

Plan your event and gather all the details (Date, time, location, etc.)
\nSubmit your event<\/a> to be listed on remakelearningdays.org
\nOptional: Apply for a Host Award to support your event
\nSpread the word with colleagues! The more events, the better. (Last year\u2019s festival<\/a> included more than 220 events!)<\/p>\n

Deadlines: Submit your event<\/a> by Feb. 13 to apply for event host funding. And even if you aren\u2019t applying for funding, be sure to submit your event by Feb. 23 to be included in festival marketing.<\/p>\n
