LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA \u2014 Kids 8 to 12 years old are invited to join the Lower Merion Fire Department Youth Firefighter Summer Camp in August.<\/p>\n
The camp, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 18 to Aug. 22 in McMoran Park, will teach kids about fire safety, fire prevention, and the roles and responsibilities of firefighters.<\/p>\n
Learning alongside firefighters will help participants build a sense of teamwork and responsibility.<\/p>\n
The curriculum is designed to be fun, challenging, entertaining, and educational.<\/p>\n
Lessons and activities will focus on the daily life of a firefighter, while helping participants identify fire and life safety concerns throughout their homes and schools.<\/p>\n
Each day will consist of short lectures and lessons, followed by opportunities to actively participate in exercises designed to reinforce what they have learned.<\/p>\n
Topics at the camp include fire extinguisher training, fire investigation, search and rescue, and more.<\/p>\n
The cost is $150 for Lower Merion Township residents and $180 for non-residents.<\/p>\n
